Otoko

Otoko is a 12-seat Japanese restaurant at South Congress Hotel in Austin, led by Executive Chef Yoshi Okai. The multi-course omakase experience blends Tokyo-style sushi with Kyoto-style kaiseki, shifting with seasonality and ingredient availability.

Since 2019, I’ve worked closely with Chef Yoshi and the Otoko team on multiple rounds of custom tableware, creating bowls and small plates for presenting his coursed omakase. 

We have also created custom Otoko sake sets and specialty pieces for partnerships, including bowls for a collaboration with Nixta Taqueria.
