Uchiko

Uchiko

2019 - 2025

Uchiko is a Japanese restaurant in Austin, well known for its refined atmosphere and highly considered approach to dining.

For this project, I created a collection of large-scale vessels designed specifically for the restaurant’s window bays. Each piece is wheel-thrown and altered, with subtle variations in silhouette and proportion to create rhythm across the installation.

The vases are intended to anchor the space—adding presence and texture while allowing light and shadow to move across their surfaces throughout the day. Together, they contribute to the overall atmosphere of the dining room without competing for attention.
