Kappo Kappo

Kappo Kappo is a French-Japanese chef’s tasting concept located within Austin Proper Hotel, led by twin chefs Gohei and Haru Kishi. The intimate counter experience blends global training and cultural influence into an evolving, highly personal menu, set within a gorgeous space designed by Kelly Wearstler.

In collaboration with the chefs, I developed a series of custom pieces to support their presentation, including small “UFO” bowls and matte grey-blue plates. The forms are restrained and intentional, designed to frame delicate ingredients while allowing flexibility across an ever-changing tasting menu.

The palette was developed in dialogue with the chefs - balancing softness and depth to sit comfortably within both the food and the surrounding interior.
